Following a public consultation late last year, Ballater Post Office is getting ready to make the move to a new location in the village.
The current branch will close its doors on Wednesday April 1 and the new branch will open in the Co-op, 4 Golf Road, Ballater, on Thursday April 2.
The move is part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and open plan environments.
Sir Robert Smith MP welcomed the news saying: “I am pleased that the new Post Office in Ballater will have longer opening hours, allowing people to access Post Office services seven days a week.
“A public consultation was held on this move and concerns were raised about access at the new branch. Post Office Ltd have informed me that access at the Co-op will be level with a wide automatic door. I understand consideration is also being given to the shop layout to ensure Post Office customer will have space and privacy when carrying out transactions.
“It is vital that Ballater has an accessible branch with a sustainable future so that local residents can easily and conveniently use postal services, Post Office Card Accounts, and the other facilities offered by the Post Office.”
