Banchory Tesco held their Neighbourhood Food Collection last week, collecting around 640 kilograms of food to help local families.
It was the store’s sixth Neighbourhood Food Collection, and was presided over by volunteers from Aberdeenshire South Food Bank.
On the Saturday, Tesco staff dressed up as superheroes to help promote the occasion, and participated in a treasure hunt around the store.
Fiona Graham, Co-ordinator for Aberdeenshire South Food Bank, said: “We greatly appreciate the cheerful and enthusiastic support which is given to us, and which enables us to help so many local people at times of crisis.”
Isla Elliot, Community Champion for Banchory Tesco, said: “Yet again our customers have come up trumps and made a great contribution to a vital local service.”
Tesco adds 30 percent to all contributions made during the Neighbourhood Food Collections, and it holds two of them a year in every store.
Banchory Tesco is one of 507 UK stores with a permanent collection service for long-life food donations, so anyone still wanting to donate can still do so.
