Councillors on the Marr area Committee have voted unanimously against plans for a development of new homes at Crathes.
At a previous Marr Area Committee meeting the application came under criticism.
Ann Ross of Crathes, Durris, Drumoak Community Council said: “Whilst the design and layout was of paramount importance to a development of this nature, it remained in part a distraction from the real issue, which was the level of infrastructure required which was disproportionate to a development of this size.”
There were also issues with on site sewage treatment, which would have required the pumping of sewage two and a half miles up-river to Banchory.
Cllr Karen Clark pointed out the application may not end there.
She said: “If Stewart Milne goes to appeal which is highly likely and it is upheld by the Scottish Reporter then yet again our local democratically elected members are undermined and communities will not have faith that their voices count in the current planning process.”
Despite the application’s rejection, Stewart Milne Homes, still lists The Gardens at Crathes, as a future development online.
