The former university car park at Marischal College in Aberdeen is now open to city visitors and late-night shoppers.
That has been brought to the public’s attention by Aberdeen City Council, who are keen to see it used for Thursday late-night shopping and parts of Saturday and Sunday.
Marischal College is now the site of the City Council headquarters so, unknown to many residents, the former university parking restrictions no longer apply.
Communities, Housing & Infrastructure convener, Councillor Neil Cooney, said: “The Marischal College car park is significantly under-used during the times it is available for public use.
‘‘ It is a very handy city centre car park, however, and I would urge people to take advantage of the spaces.”
Times and costs of parking availability are: Thursdays 6-8pm, Saturdays 8am-6pm, and Sundays 1-5pm.
Charges are: up to two hours £2.20, 2-3 hours £3.30, and 3-4 hours £4.40. The car park barrier is closed at 8.30pm on Saturdays, and 5.30pm on Sundays, meaning that any vehicles left in the car park after barriers close cannot be removed until 7.45am Sunday mornings, or 6am Monday mornings.
