The early years pupils at Tarland School proudly presented the local Rotary Club with a cheque for £129.13 for the Rotary International “End Polio Now” campaign.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Rotary Club of Aboyne and Upper Deeside, was Rotarian Mike Powell, who congratulated the children for raising the money by holding a tea party and selling potted purple crocuses, the symbol of the campaign.
The crocus was chosen as the purple colour matched the dye painted on the fingers of children who have been immunised against Polio.
Mike presented illustrated “Dictionaries4Life” to the P7 pupils in the school. Rotary clubs across the country are involved in this initiative to present dictionaries to pupils.
