North Deeside Road is to close over two weekends for construction work on the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR).
The popular commuter route will be closed between noon on Saturday and 6am on Monday from May 30 to June 1, and June 6 to June 8, from Milltimber Brae to the eastern end of Cults.
Pedestrian and vehicular access will be maintained with some temporary restrictions to pavements for residents of the area and the scheduled bus service will continue under convoy. Diversions for all other vehicles will be in place.
The closures are required while Scottish Water dig trial holes to determine the route of a diverted water main.
In June and July there will be shuffle working arrangements under temporary traffic lights. The traffic management, will enable utility diversion works and trial hole works to be undertaken outside rush hourto minimise disruption. Work is expected to last for 18 months.
In a further AWPR development, Transport Scotland may be awaiting a report by Aberdeen Roads Limited regarding the removal of projected AWPR workers’ accommodation at the former Old Mill Inn on South Deeside Road to a site at Craibstone. Objections were raised when the hotel site was first put forward, including concerns about the dangers an accompanying car park would pose.
