Work to commence on Aboyne Playpark

Work is set to start next month on the long awaited Aboyne Playpark, project manager Sarah Brown has confirmed.

The provisional start date for the first phase of the project is April 20.

This will be the largest phase of the village green project, which will see a zip wire, inclusive basket swing sponsored by Kate Lynne’s Wish , Eco rain wheel sponsored by Apache North Sea, binoculars sponsored by Aboyne Baby and Toddler group, boulders, multi play unit, swirl whirl and inclusive roundabout installed.

Project manager Sarah Brown said: “I am incredibly grateful for the many donations and support from the local community as well as Aberdeenshire Council who have helped with the realisation of this project, including Maersk Oil, Aberdeen Risk Management, Reach Energy Ltd, Cromdale Ltd, Rose Lodge Nursery, Bonty Court, GMB Union, Ballogie Estates, Enquest, Emma Massie Flowers, AJC as well as individual donations and the support of our local fundraising events, Children’s Halloween party, Body Shop Party and our ‘You’ve been gnomed ‘ event.”

Work is still in progress to obtain funding for phase two of the Aboyne Village Green Playpark Project, however it is hoped that this will be secured shortly.

Sarah added: “I am also thankful for the wonderful support and guidance received from the directors and support staff of Mid Deeside Limited, Cllr Blackett and Cllr Argyle and the personnel at Aberdeenshire Council .

“Thank you doesn’t relay the strength of my feeling and gratitude to all of our donors and the community who participated in the initial consultations, made suggestions of equipment, attended the consultations and really got behind the project.

“What an amazing community team effort this has been and I hope everyone is as proud as me to see what we have all achieved together.”
