Youth group honoured after Bennachie event
THE Westhill Youth Action Group has been recognised for the contribution it has made to the lives of others.
The group was selected for the British Red Cross Humanitarian Citizen Awards 2009 which celebrated the efforts made by young people under the age of 25 to help make a difference for others.
Last year members of the group carried out a 'clean and climb' of Bennachie to raise funds for a Westhill Youth Caf and worked with English artist Dan Savage to help decorate the Aberdeen Children's Hospital.
Westhill Youth Action Group members Claire Spink and Mairi Burgess attended the ceremony along with youth worker Gareth Jamieson.
The awards ceremony was held at the prestigious Terrace Pavilion at the House of Commons in London where it was hosted by Simon Hughes MP.
