A hunt to find the north-east’s brightest young musical talent is down to the final 12 acts, with a trip to London to meet Donside’s biggest music star up for grabs.
The NEX Factor, a singing competition for 13 – 19 year olds in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray, recently had auditions to select finalists from over 100 entries.
The 12 talented teenage acts will now take to the stage at Thainstone Exchange on Saturday, May 30 to vie for the 2015 NEX Factor title and a fantastic first prize. The winning act will receive £1,000 in prize money, a session at a recording studio, a personal art portrait, plus a day out in London with Donside soul sensation, Emeli Sande.
The 28-year-old multi Brit Award winning singer songwriter, best known for her number-one hits ‘Read All About It’ and ‘Next To Me’, donated her time after hearing about the charitable aspect of the competition. Applicants were asked to make a £5 donation to Cash for Kids in order to help support youngsters of a similar age to them living in the north-east who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged.
Banchory’s Anna Barton, 16, is amongst the finalists.
Tickets are £15 and can be purchased via the Cash for Kids website at www.northsound1.com/charity/fundraising-appeals/nex-factor/.
